Silver William Comyns
A very attractive and quite unusual ‘shield shape’ timepiece in solid silver by the famous silversmith William Comyns with hallmarks and date letter stamp of 1909. The clock stands on four solid, turned feet and has fine lining to the front panel. Not too small, measuring 19 cms tall. Wound from the rear behind a wooden door. A clock which looks good almost anywhere you place it ! Interestingly William Comyns was founded in 1730’s and in business from the 1850’s until the 1930’s with the W.C trade/hallmark. Comyns silversmiths is still trading and with a quick search you’ll see the fine contemporary pieces they now produce. Sold fully restored. A good investment clock.
