Harrods Mantel Clock
A fine decorative French mantel clock striking hourly and half hourly on a coiled gong. The vitreous enamelled dial showing Roman numerals, fine hands of blued steel. A cast brass decorative bezel surround with bevelled convex glass. The case is in remarkable condition for its age and retains a very good colour, a very deep red and glossy finish . The Ormolu mounts are all the original fire gilt. Made in Paris around 1895 stamped and numbered. The clock was retailed by Harrods of Knightsbidge, possibly the finest retailer of French clocks and certainly still one of the country’s finest retailer/department store. The clock strikes one at one and so on, with the half hour always just a single blow of the mellow gong. Importantly signed to the dial Harrods Ltd.
