Gadrooned Gorge Case Carriage Clock
Well you don’t see one of these very often! We last had a ‘Gadrooned’ gorge case carriage clock around 10 years ago and at that time, that was the first we had ever seen. Now we have a slightly superior one for sale as this one has push repeat and alarm function. The clock strikes the hours on a bell and has a half hour with a single blow of the bell. The case still retains the original gilding, slightly worn but looking bright and very attractive. Original ‘Breguet’ style hands, a white vitreous enamel dial showing Roman numerals and a fine, silvered and jeweled lever escapement engraved T.Martin & Co., 151 Regent Street. Another unusual feature of this clock is an engraved ‘Slow – Fast’ to the top bezel, helping with adjustment of timekeeping.
