A fine Rosewood Bracket clock with silvered dial showing two subsidery dials in the arch, one for Strike & Silent and one for Rise & Fall regulation. A substantial twin fusee movement with pull repeat and striking the hour on a bell. The Rosewood case is in superb condition and standing on carved Egyptian style feet, velvet lined brass fishscale sound frets to the sides. To the back door a glass aperature to see the movement and pendulum swing within. The dial signed Ellicott & Smith of the Royal Excvhange, London.  Edward Ellicott wasa thye son of John Ellicott who was the clockmaker to King George III. John Ellicotts father was also a clockmaker and was admitted to the clockmakers company in 1696.  The movement is running for a week on a full wind. Standing 39cm high including the finial, 16cm wide and 11cm deep.
