Benjamin Maud London
Every now then a longcase takes my breath away! This longcase by Benjamin Maud of London has ‘perhaps’ the very best dial layout we have seen. The makers name is engraved on an arched shaped piece of Silvered brass which meets the chapter ring and has the strike – silent subdial within. This is then surrounded by unique shaped spandrels. The quality and design is absolutely the best. The dial would have been produced and engraved for the Clockmaker Mr Benjamin Maud by equally skilled dial makers and gravers. The 8 day duration, Bell striking movement features the silent option. It has a lovely pair of brass cased weights and brass pendulum Bob as you would expect. The cabinet is a mellowed ‘toffee’ mahogany with good grain – flame to the trunk door with canted fluted columns and brass reeding. Benjamin Maud is recorded as freed of the The Clockmakers Company in the 1780’s. The clock can be delivered locally and set up with a 20mile radius of the shop. If you live further afield we will have to charge a delivery fee as the clock is already very reasonably priced ! Sold with a full 2 year guarantee.
