A truly stunning oval clock on a base/stand with impressive lion paw feet. The engraved case is in superb condition with a fine gilt finish, and the original glass near perfect. The clock is not attached to the base and can be lifted seperately using the carry handle, also engraved and delicately shaped. The movement has been fully overhauled and runs perfectly, with alarm function and push repeat button to the top, to strike the last hour. Although unsigned it is numbered and probably from Richard & Co., circa 1880-1890. It is worth noting that oval carriage clocks are not rare, but finding one with a stand such as this does make it quite unique and enhances the clock.

A fine example of a 'Satin' gilt cased carriage clock of good size and proportions with original outer protective leather covered case numbered to match clock. This clock benefits from a large clear white dial showing Roman numerals and Arabics for the Alarm dial. A good size oval top glass to view the original silvered platform and lever escapement. The clock has a pleasant gong strike on the hours and half hours and will run for a week per wind. Also with push repeating on demand and of course alarm function. We think this is made by Richard & Co who opened in London in 1857 at 24 Cannon Street. In the bottom left corner it's numbered 11233 which is also stamped in gilt to the bottom of the Outer case. Dating to around 1890-1900. This is just one of the clocks from our collection for sale. Sold with a full 24 month guarantee.

This is a little bit different! A very large and interesting repeating, alarm, striking carriage clock with the original leather covered travel case. Made by Richard & Co of Paris circa 1890. The design reminds us of the Classicism & Rococco French architecture and we're sure that's exactly what this clock was styled after. The case has been carefully constructed of gilt brass and silver plated brass giving a very appealing two tone appearance. We have painstakingly taken the whole case and movement to pieces - pictures can be emailed of the restoration. The clock has had a full overhaul and service and is sold with our 24-month guarantee. The original outer leather case has the corresponding number on it and is quite large to accommodate this substantial clock. Of the many different types of carriage clocks we have had over the years we have not had one like this. Quite unique and rare. RESERVED

Richard et Cie were established in Paris circa 1850 when the fashion for small travelling clocks began. The company then opened a branch in London in 1857 which was very sucessful. They then decided to anglicise the name to Richard & Co to open a new branch at 24 Cannon Street, London and continue selling their clocks with the R & Co logo. This fully renovated example of a Petite sonnerie with a Strike/Silent option was made circa 1900. The gilt case in the Corniche style with bevelled glass to all sides and retaining the large original lever escapement.
