A local chronometer for us, R.A. Jones & Son of Southend-on-Sea were the local jewelers and clock and watch retailers. This chronometer was probably supplied to a large yacht around the 1890s. It features the classic 3-tier mahogany case, brass bound with handles, latched lid and lock and key. The chronometer with the classic gimbaled support, allowing the clock to be reversed to be wound by the ratcheting chronometer key. The dial showing roman numerals, up down indicator, and seconds dial. The chronometer movement has the spring detent, jeweled escapement and is keeping excellent time, as you would expect from a marine chronometer. Sold with a 12 month UK guarantee.
