A 'Gorge' case Carriage clock with enamel dial signed Parkinson & Frodsham, Royal Exchange, London. Charles Frodsham was amongst the finest clock and watchmakers in the 19th Century and was the successor to Arnold. As well as numerous other medals , C.Frodsham won the first-class medal at the Great exhibition of 1851 & Parkinson and Frodsham were Chronometer makers and produced some of the finest gold pocket watches of the 19th Century. This clock has hourly strike on a gong and once for the half hours. The case has substantial original gilding with a matt 'frosted' finish and is very attractive. The push repeat button above the enamel dial and retains the original silvered 'Platform' with lever escapement. The hands are the original and elegant against the well proportioned Roman numerals. The dial is perfect. A good investment clock. Height is with Handle up

This is a very small and attractive timepiece of extremely high quality. The case is constructed in the traditional Georgian style being of Oak with a thick Mahagany 'flame' veneer, the colour and patina are perfect, chestnut and toffee! The dial has been signed to the rear Frodsham and C then Sec'? The high quality movement has been fully overhauled (and does not have a pendulum you have to worry about fitting). The case features 'fish scale' frets to both sides, a fret work rear door and a full opening front. The dial is 'off white' showing Roman numerals and blued steel hands. The clock stands on 4 bracket feet and has a solid cast brass carry handle. Quite an usual clock and very small in comparison to other Bracket clocks. There are of course many Frodshams listed in the clockmakers volumes. The quality of this fine clock does suggest London cabinet making and clockmaking.

This is a very attractive and small carriage/mantel clock retailed by the well known Charles Frodsham of South Molton Street, London. The clock has a pleasant gong strike for the hours and half hours and the case is a polished Walnut, brass bound and inlaid. Standing on four turned feet with a galleried top surrounding the 'pagoda' with handle. The dial is vitreous enamel and convex with garlands of flowers painted between the numbers and also showing the original and very decorative gilt hands with the retailers name. A fine clock and quite a rare model. Fully overhauled and ready for sale.
