A fine mahogany bracket clock made by Thomas Moss of London. Moss was recorded as working at 24 Ludgate Street from 1775-1823, this clock, in the Regency style, would’ve been made around 1820. The original convex dial is cream enamel with the maker’s name and city, and the number of the clock, 271, as well as Roman numerals, brass hands, and the convex glass cover and brass bezel, unlocked by a key to the right hand side. The mahogany archtop case is in good condition, standing on adjustable brass ball feet, with eboinsed marquetry to the front and red velvet lined brass fishscale sound frets to the sides. To the back door a glass aperature to see the movement and pendulum swing within. The movement a twin fusee, running for 8 days on a full wind and striking on a bell, with a strike silent lever and pull repeat on a cord. A good-sized bracket clock, standing 40cm high including the handle, 25cm wide and 16cm deep.
