8 Inch L.N.E.R – Railway Clock
A good 8inch dial, small Oak Railway clock made by Reid & Co of Newcastle. The clock is numbered 6928 and from the L.N.E.R records it shows that this was in use during the late Victorian period through the Edwardian period at the Oil & Gas works in the Center of York. The maker Reid & Co of Newcastle would have made this circa 1880-90 for the L.N.E.R Railways. The case colour is ‘Honey’ Oak and the movement is high quality and substantial 8 day single fusee with heavy ‘bob’ pendulum. The Bezel is cast brass, unlike the later cheaper ‘spun’ bezels.
