Elegant Mantel Clock
This is a very small and attractive timepiece of extremely high quality. The case is constructed in the traditional Georgian style being of Oak with a thick Mahagany ‘flame’ veneer, the colour and patina are perfect, chestnut and toffee! The dial has been signed to the rear Frodsham and C then Sec’? The high quality movement has been fully overhauled (and does not have a pendulum you have to worry about fitting). The case features ‘fish scale’ frets to both sides, a fret work rear door and a full opening front. The dial is ‘off white’ showing Roman numerals and blued steel hands. The clock stands on 4 bracket feet and has a solid cast brass carry handle. Quite an usual clock and very small in comparison to other Bracket clocks. There are of course many Frodshams listed in the clockmakers volumes. The quality of this fine clock does suggest London cabinet making and clockmaking.
