Boxall Miniature Striking Carriage
A very rare carriage clock indeed. The size of this clock really does need to be noted as the pictures ‘online’ don’t really give you an idea of scale. This little repeating carriage clock was retailed by Boxall of Brighton circa 1880 and features a push repeat and a strike for the hour and half hour. The clock will run for a week but if you want it to strike the whole week, a midweek strike wind is essential. Thomas Boxall of Brighton was a maker and retailer of fine clocks from his shop in Kings Road, Brighton. The picture of three clocks give an idea of size. The giant carriage, the standard, and of course this little miniature. A very unusual clock and I don’t think you will ever see another! 92mm tall, 50mm wide, 45mm deep.
