Brock – Henri Jacot Carriage Clock
A large carriage clock in a gilt ‘gorge’ case which was retailed by Brock of 218 George Street and Portman Square, London. Brock was a retailer of very high quality clocks of the period – mid to late Victorian, and this clock dates to around 1870 and has the oval stamp between the plates showing Jacot’s 1855 and 1862 Medaille Exp’ Uni’. The dial is free of chips or hairlines. The beautiful movement has now been fully overhauled and strikes the hour on a bell with one blow of the bell for the half hours. The silvered Jewelled lever escapement has a 18000 beat count per hour, with fine ‘Moon’ or Breguet style hands. If you are looking for a reasonably priced and fully restored Henri Jacot produced carriage clock with low serial number (751) this could be the right clock!
